Auckland Chilton Croquet Club’s rearranged home league match against Durham Bede took place last Friday amid stoppages for the occasional downpours, reports Richard Peck.
Sadly, although some of the games had tight scorelines, Durham came up trumps with a 14-4 victory making them Croquet North League Champions for 2025.
So no glory for Auckland Chilton Croquet this year, which is why we’d like to see people, of any age, come down to the Miners Welfare Ground and have a go at croquet.
We’ll show you what to do, provide the equipment free of charge for the first two sessions and see whether or not you’d like to carry on playing.
It’s gentle exercise, fresh air and friendly competition.
We’re there every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday afternoon from 2pm until 4-4.30pm, located on the park behind the Jet petrol station on the A167.
