Endeavour Woodcrafts is small day service for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues, and has been based in Ferryhill for the last 27 years.
Due to the lockdown and temporary closures this year, the service has lost income and sales and now faces a rent increase of £2,400 from its landlord, Durham County Council.
In order to keep the day service going, offering support and a workplace environment for some of society’s most vulnerable adults, staff and service users are attempting to raise funds to cover at least some of this rent increase.
From Monday 7th to Friday 11th December, staff, service users and volunteers will be taking part in a sponsored 100 mile walk/run, to be held at the Endeavour premises using a treadmill.
Endeavour hopes to raise £500 in sponsorship to help with the increase in rental costs.
Mayor of Ferryhill, Cllr Joe Makepeace, will be starting the sponsored event and is lending his support to Endeavour as well as making a donation to the fund.
Anyone who would like to sponsor Endeavour can do so online by making a donation via PayPal to firstname.lastname@example.org or via its fundraising JustGiving page.
