Locomotion: The National Railway Museum is offering a range of free activities for the whole community to enjoy, as part of their contribution to the nationwide Disabled Access Day initiative on Saturday 12th March.
A spokesperson commented: “Visit on the day, and you’ll be able to take a closer look at the cabs of the museum’s two operational diesel shunters – Class 03 D2090 and Class 08 13079 – as these locomotives will be positioned on the platform at the Collection Building to allow wheelchair access.
“You’ll be able to get hands on with some of the smaller items from the museum’s collection in object handling sessions, and you’ll be able to join in with tours of the ‘star’ vehicles on display throughout the day.”
Disabled Access Day is a nationwide initiative to encourage disabled people to try something new. The initiative is sponsored by Euan’s Guide, a listing and review site that helps disabled people and their families know which venues are truly accessible.
Locomotion: The National Railway Museum is open from 10am to 4pm daily. Tours, cab access and object handling sessions for Disabled Access Day will be available at selected times throughout the day. Parking and admission is free of charge.
