Residents of Shildon will be saddened to learn of the passing of Major Linda Watson, who served as the Salvation Army Corps Officer in the town from 2007-2017.
Linda joined the Salvation Army as a youngster at Eston, Middlesborough, writes Major Robert Barham-Hall (Retired), and soon responded to her calling to train as a Salvation Army Officer.
She entered college as a cadet in 1980 in the ‘God’s Messenger’ session and was commissioned to serve as an Assosciate Officer at Ramsgate Corps.
Her four decades of obedient, caring ministry have blessed countless and led many into their own personal faith in God.
She first took command in Bexhill before moving North to Cornforth, Workington, Spennymoor, Dean Bank and to East Lea in 1993, Trowbridge in 1998 and Otley in 2001.
In 2007 she was posted to Shildon where she served for ten years before taking up her final appointment at Ayr Corps.
On January 5th, she received her final calling and was Promoted To Glory following a short time in Ayr Hospice.
Family and friends give thanks to God for a very special person and a service of celebration for her life will take place at the Salvation Army, Shildon on 17 February at 3pm.
All who knew her, appreciated her and wish to give thanks for her memory are welcome.
