The fast approaching 2015 cricket season is likely to prove to be one of the most important ever in the history of Shildon Railway Cricket Club, chairman John Brennan said.
The Railwaymen are joining the North Yorkshire and South Durham Premier Cricket League, which was founded in 1892 and is the second oldest cricket league in the world.
“Standards and expectations are high in the NYSD and we as a club must “step up to the plate” and meet the new and demanding challenges,” added the club chairman.
The club is grateful that the people of Shildon continue to be generous in their support, especially with the junior sides and is hopeful that new sponsors will get on board to help the club be successful. All players, both junior and senior, are expected to attend a pre-season meeting on Thursday 26th March at 7pm at the BR and anyone who is interested in helping with the club’s development is also invited along.
“At this meeting we will be explaining what is expected of us in the new league, as well as registering all players and explaining our vision for the club for the next few seasons,” said a club spokesman.
