Shildon Railway Cricket Club celebrated the end of the 2013 season with their Annual Presentation Night, held on Saturday 28th September at the B.R. Chairman John Brennan hosted the evening and thanked all players, sponsors and supporters for their help throughout the season.
He then handed over to 1st team skipper, Greg Upton, who gave an overview of the season.
County Councillor Henry Nicholson then presented trophies to the club’s own Magnificent 7, who raised money for the club and The Percy Hedley Foundation by walking the Roman Wall in September 2012, and to Andrew Walsh, who cycled Coast to Coast, in dreadful weather in May, raising funds for the club.
The ladies who had provided teas for the teams each received a bouquet of flowers.
The 2nd Team’s Top Batsman and Top Bowler Awards were both won by Andy Paterson, whilst the Player of the Year Award was won by Lloyd Horner.
The 1st Team’s Top Batsman Award and Player of the Year were won by Greg Upton with Robert Nevison winning the Top Bowler Award.
The Jack Watson Trophy, awarded for the season’s best individual performance, was won by Greg Upton. The John Raw Trophy, awarded to the clubman of the year, was won by John Brennan and The Ken Stainthorpe Award, given to the most improved senior player, was won by Chris Young.
