Four community projects involving young people have received £200 each from the newly-formed Bishop Auckland Community Events group.
The money was raised at a shopping and dining event, held at Wynyard Hall in Tees from B.A.C.E. Valley; the first such event organised by the B.A.C.E. group.
A grand total of £4,976 was raised, with £800 being divided between the four local groups, which were The Shildon Tearaways Youth Theatre Group, The 2nd Bishop Auckland Scouts, The Sunday’s Cool group from St Anne’s Community Church and Riding for the Disabled group at Escomb.
The remainder of the money raised was donated to the Bishop Auckland branch of The Butterwick Hospice.
