Shildon Community Fun Run took place on Saturday 11 June in Hackworth Park. The main aim of the fun run was to bring members of the community together for fun, light exercise whilst also promoting organisations which provide free physical activity for young people and families within the town, supported by Hackworth Park Run, Shildon AFC CIC, ParkPlay, and Active Shildon.
The event was inclusive regardless of ability, and the ages of participants ranged from nine months to sixty-six years. Shildon Alive would like to say a massive thank you to Shildon Town Council, Blue Diamond Engineering and Church Street Laundrette for funding the event, along with Morrisons Bishop Auckland who supplied cereal bars and water for participants.
A spokesperson for the group said, “If any members of the community have suggestions for events we can organise in the future, please get in touch, or call into 93 Church Street.”
A free Family Fun Day will take place on 6 August in the park.
