Churches celebrate Queen’s 90th birthday

Sylvia Barraclough of Shildon Methodist Church worked tirelessly to produce programme of laughter and celebration as the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations began in Shildon.

A team from Saint John’s Church joined with Shildon Methodist church in practising dance and song in preparation for last Saturday’s event.

With Methodist minister Rev’d Andrew Bryers and his wife Janet narrating the key events of the last 90 years the appreciative audience clapped and sang along.

Eileen Bowman from St John’s drew laughs as the team performed a humorous version of a dance from Swan Lake.

“This is what happens, commented Rev’d David, “when churches get together. The laughter just never stops!”
