Spennymoor’s much-loved Christmas celebration is set to make a joyful return on Saturday 13 December, from 1pm to 6pm, bringing a full afternoon of free festive entertainment to the town centre.
Thanks to funding from All Together For Spennymoor and Durham County Council, the Market Place will once again be transformed into a charming winter wonderland filled with activities for all ages.
Visitors can take to the ice on a free synthetic ice rink, open to skaters of all abilities.
The town will also come alive with live music, festive performances and roaming entertainers, creating a vibrant seasonal atmosphere throughout the day.
Adding an extra touch of magic, families can visit Mrs Claus, where little ones can chat with her and take home a special seasonal photo.
A variety of Christmas market stalls will line the area, showcasing unique gifts, handmade crafts and delicious festive food and drink from local traders and independent businesses.
At 4pm, the Walled Garden will host a pop-up cinema with an outdoor screening of a beloved festive film about a boy mistakenly left alone on Christmas Eve… All to be revealed soon!
Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and get cosy, with hot chocolate, mulled wine, candy floss and popcorn available to purchase on-site.
Stephen McGrother, Producer at Baccanalia said: “Following the success of last year’s event, we are delighted to partner once again with Durham County Council to deliver a festive, family-friendly celebration featuring magical attractions and high-quality entertainment.
Our goal is to create an experience that captures the spirit of the season, encourages people to visit Spennymoor town centre, and supports local traders and businesses.”
Baccanalia would like to thank All Together For Spennymoor and Durham County Council for their generous support and funding, which has enabled this community-focused Christmas Market to return.
All activities are completely free, with no booking required.
