Choral Society concert

Bishop Auckland Choral Society sing Rossini.

The next concert from Bishop Auckland Choral Society will be A Ceremony of Christmas Carols, composed by Benjamin Britten with harp accompaniment, followed by Christmas songs, carols and readings, writes Lesley Brown.

Zoe Solomen is the guest harpist, with Venera Bojkova as Musical Director.

The concert will be on Friday 8 December in St Anne’s Church, Market Place, Bishop Auckland and begins at 7pm.

This year marks the 175th jubilee year of the church, and it will be filled with lights from twenty Christmas trees to mark the event, and will look very beautiful.

Mulled wine and mince pies will be offered during the interval, and there will be an opportunity for the audience to join in singing some of the familiar carols.

Tickets, which include a programme, are priced at twelve pounds, with no charge for children under twelve years.

Tickets are for sale at Brothertons Music Shop, 205 Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, from Jane Smith on 01325 360514, from members of the choir, or on the door.
