Chilton Town Council have invested in a number of LifeVaC anti-choking devices to help save lives.
Tragically a child dies every 5 days from choking. The simple and effective LifeVac kit has saved thousands of lives of children and adults.
This simple to use, non-invasive airway clearance device (ACD) can be used for all ages, including if the individual is pregnant or a wheelchair user, when the Heimlich manoeuvre or chest compression fails.
The UK currently has an 8-minute target time for an ambulance to reach an incident.
- 4 – 6 minutes of oxygen starvation means brain damage is possible.
- 6 – 10 minutes of oxygen starvation means brain damage is probable.
- Over 10 minutes of oxygen starvation means the victim is likely to die.
Deputy Mayor, Cllr Pearl Malpas said: “The devices provide a really effective safety net for residents and visitors, offering peace of mind that they are publicly available to help in an emergency.”
The devices have been placed in Hutton House, at the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground and in the local Sainsbury’s store with thanks to store manager, Steven Booth.
They are available for anyone to use in an emergency situation.
