Shildon AFC has produced a series of short videos, published daily this week, in which Chairman, David Dent, reflects on his life, eight years on from suffering a massive stroke on his way to a business meeting in Middlesbrough.
In a post on the club’s Facebook page, David said: “Next month on the 4th of January it will be 8 years since my world changed following a massive stroke.
“Since that day I’ve mostly stayed under the radar, focusing very much on my recovery, having being blessed with a second chance!
“This week through a series of short videos I tell my story, from my early days, to running businesses, to being involved to this day on some great projects, the importance of family and back to where it all began for me, where I’m privileged to be Chairman of Shildon AFC, leading on some of the special things that we are doing in the community.
“It’s not the end though, both myself and the club still have a lot more to give, so watch this space!
“Thank you to some special people in my business network, friends, Shildon AFC and my family for getting me back to tell this story. I really appreciate your support!
“A special thanks to Helen Wright for encouraging me to get this story out, it’s being truly cathartic!!”
