2024 sees the tenth anniversary of the founding of The Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group, your local cancer charity, writes Secretary, Marianne Short.
From six members in a small church hall, to now a three-figure number of patients that we have supported since the charity came into being.
We have had many success stories with patients living after cancer, but we also remember those who have sadly lost their battle against cancer.
To celebrate this landmark, the charity arranged a function at the Phoenix Club in Newton Aycliffe on Friday 8 March.
The event was a huge success with the fantastic singer Marie St Clair singing songs by Tina Turner, Shirley Bassey, Donna Summer and others, along with Miss Annbag providing the disco on the night.
Thank you everyone who attended and enjoyed the night’s entertainment.
Funds raised from the event amounted to £904, which is fantastic and will help this most worthwhile of local charities to continue its support of cancer patients in the local area.
We had a raffle on the night with 31 prizes. There are some prizes still left to claim, so please do take your raffle tickets to the shop during opening hours to see if you have won a prize.
The GACSG shop and hub, opposite Savers in Aycliffe town centre is open Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am-3pm and Friday 10am-2pm.
