The Shildon RAC Juniors showed their class at the Interschool competition on 17th June against the best of Cumbria, Cleveland, Durham and Northumberland.
Kyle Watson became the u17 men’s 100m champion and Rachel Bennett the u17 women’s 200m champion. Charlie Dixon came in 3rd in the u17 men’s 400m.
Huge congratulations also go to Charlie Dixon on his selection for the NE Inter County Team (400m) in Hull on the 2nd July.
Rachel Bennett also received the NE call up but unfortunately had to decline due to prior commitments.
In her first run for the club, new Junior member Tegan Dowson competed the Aycliffe fun-run on 18th June in 21 minutes and 3 seconds.
The Senior team have also had a busy and hot few weeks, with Helen Race, Irene Ross, Shannon Ross and Paige Ross entering the bright Colour Obstacle Rush on 17th June.
There was a strong team presence at the very warm Aycliffe 10k on 18th June.
David Anderson came in first with a time of 38 minutes, 59 seconds followed by Leigh Towers (41:40), Richard Trowles (43:40) and Hazel Johnson (1:02:17).
Also on 18th June, Si Butterworth undertook the Pieces of 8 trail half marathon at Penshaw momument.
Coming in an hour later than expected, Si said: “It was a blisteringly hot 29 degrees but fabulous scenery and a great event.
“I’m sore, chafed, had some nasty dizzy spells but delighted I finished!”
More recently Leigh Towers and Emma Flynn completed the Hull half marathon on Sunday 25th June.
