It was a weekend of seaside, sunshine and skating for four skaters from Spectrum North East Roller Skating Club as they travelled to Great Yarmouth for a training weekend on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th February.
During their visit the four skaters; Nicola Stevens (18), Joseph Kearney (15), Hannah Godwin (10) and Harrison Austin (9), met and were coached by six-time British Champion Emily Woods, who is also currently ranked 17th in the world and her coach, Martin Pickering.
The group trained for more than eight hours which included fun team-building exercises.
During the visit, Harrison also passed grade 6 – an outstanding achievement as he only started his first roller skating lesson as a complete beginner with the club less than a year ago.
Martin congratulated the Spectrum team on their hard work over the weekend and said clubs working together is the way forward for the sport.
Tracy Stevens, Spectrum Roller Skating Club Coach said: “Thank you to everyone who continues to support our club.
“This has been an amazing opportunity for the skaters to learn and develop.
“We are now getting ready for our first Federation National Competition.”
