As we approach halfway in the 2024 bowls season Shildon Railway Bowls Club (sponsored by RMH Car Sales) have made a strong start in all leagues, reports Jonathan Prince.
The Monday night team sit 3rd in the league with strong performances throughout the first half of the season. Whilst league honours may already be out of reach, 2nd place is not and that will be the target for the 2024 season.
The Tuesday night team sit 4th in a competitive league mainly made up of teams from around Durham and the surrounding areas. With 6 home games out of their last 9 fixtures they will look to improve on 4th and a push for league honours is not out of the question given current form.
On a Thursday night our 1st Division team sit 7th in a league dominated by 2 very good sides, leaving the remaining teams very tightly grouped. With a mix of experience, younger players and a bit of luck that they have been missing all season, they will hope to climb to mid-table and preserve their 1st Division status.
Our 2nd Division team are 3rd in the league after a run of consistent results, with a game in hand on the teams above. There is every opportunity to top the league and win promotion back to Division 1 should performances stay as they have been.
Our Wednesday afternoon Veterans team compliments the above all-age teams and remain competitive in their league despite a run of tough fixtures.
The club are always looking for new players whatever age, ability and experience level and all equipment can be provided.
