Following the recent announcement by the rail industry and the Government of the intention to close nearly 1,000 railway ticket offices throughout the UK, independent ticket office operator Bishop Trains can confirm that the National Rail travel centre at Bishop Auckland station is not affected by this announcement and will remain open.
Bishop Auckland is one of only a handful of stations around the UK where the ticket office is operated by an independent operator, and as staff are not directly employed by train companies then the proposed changes do not apply.
David Million, CEO of Bishop Trains, said: “We are very pleased, and relieved, to have received confirmation that Bishop Trains will be unaffected by any of the changes that are being proposed, so it’s business as usual at Bishop Auckland station”.
Bishop Trains was established in 2012 operating under an arrangement with Northern Trains and can deal with rail ticket sales to and from all UK stations, over the counter and by phone, 6 days a week.
A new booking service using WhatsApp was recently launched by Bishop Trains, which is a first in the rail industry.
