Billingham Defeat U14’s

Bishop Auckland RUFC Under 14’s started their weekend fixture against Billingham Under 14’s well against a large Billingham pack. A good break by the backs was stopped just short of the line by Billingham and the loose ball was picked up, with Dockray crashing over for a try in the corner. As usual Dewhurst was running strongly, capably backed up by Keirl and Scrivener. Scrivener lead the forward line with a series of strong pick and runs. A period of Bishop domination led to another try in the corner, followed closely by a Jarry try under the posts. Billingham appeared stung into action, and responded with two quick trys just before half time.

The 2nd half started with a re-organised Billingham side, but Bishops were again doing well. Billingham had several break outs, which led to 3 unanswered tries. However, the Bishop team refused to buckle. Despite creating many chances, they seemed unable to add to their score. However, as the game moved into the final stages, a back move by Bishop Auckland led to a fine score in the corner. Billingham responded with a try of their own against a visibly tiring Bishop outfit. Final score – Billingham 36, Bishop 22.

This was an excellent team performance, with backs (Jarry, Wood, Chapman and Yates) playing in forward positions.
