Bikes, Boards, and Brushes wraps up the summer in style

Attendees of the Chilton Bikes Boards and Brushes finale summoned up their inner Andy Warhols to generate some spectacular pop art while keeping cool with lollies donated by the local Sainsbury’s.

It’s a wrap; the successful Chilton Bikes, Boards, and Brushes summer workshop series, finished its summer activity on a vibrant and creative high note.

The finale saw participants dive into the bold and colourful world of Pop Art. The energetic session was expertly led by the talented team from Craft and Create North East. Attendees unleashed their inner Andy Warhols, transforming everyday themes into striking, high-contrast masterpieces.

Even Jack and Sean, who are usually spotted at the project with a skateboard, scooter, or bike, swapped their wheels for paintbrushes and fully joining in on the craft action.

Keeping the young artists cool during their hard work was a much-needed sweet treat. Steven Booth and the fantastic team at Chilton Sainsbury’s Local generously donated ice lollies for the finale. This gesture is just the latest example of the store’s dedication to the community. Steven and his team remain consistently supportive of the wider Bikes, Boards, and Brushes project, always stepping up to back local initiatives.

The Chair of the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground Charity Trust extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone making these sessions possible. Special gratitude goes to one of the initial project funders Banks Community Fund, the Trustees, and the local residents who contributed via the Mayor’s Charity. The Chair also thanked local businesses for their continued, invaluable support in providing vital activities for young residents.

While the summer sessions have ended, the fun isn’t over. The next round of workshops will return as part of the October festival, offering a spooky lineup of Halloween-themed activities during the half-term break.
