The Big Spring Clean at Jubilee Fields was led by Shildon Town Mayor, Cllr Shirley Quinn, who was on hand at the community centre to welcome everyone to the delayed event.
The spring clean was supported by staff and volunteers from the centre, as well as Shildon Town Council, Livin, DCC Neighbourhood Wardens and the local police team.
Children and staff from Byerley Road Pre-school and members of the local community also enthusiastically joined in.
There were new faces and old, as well as lots of children and young people who all went to offer their support for the annual litter pick.
The group managed to collect twenty bags of rubbish, comprising of the usual suspects and plastic bottles and cans, sweet wrappers and bottle tops.
The group worked really well and left the area looking fantastic once again for the community.
Once back at Jubilee Fields Community Centre, the group were offered refreshments followed by a delicious buffet lunch, which was made possible by small grants from Livin and Shildon Town Council.
The session was rounded off with organised play with the staff from Juliee Fields.
