Local Performance Team gymnasts, based in Kirk Merrington Primary School, have just WON “Youth Group” at the Durham County Council Young People’s Awards 2026.
This is a great accomplishment from the team and shows that a small club can achieve big things. Something to be very proud of.
The gymnasts in our team are from all over County Durham; Bishop Auckland, Ferryhill, Spennymoor, Durham, Newton Aycliffe, Shildon and more.
The team were delighted to receive the award in recognition of their achievements with Astrid Academy of Movement over the past year, preparing them for their biggest achievement to date – World Gymnaestrada in Portugal in 2027.
“We are incredibly proud of this team and each individual gymnast in it and wish them every success for more events to come! Thank you to Durham County Council’s Youth Team for putting on an incredible event.”
