Auckland Moors Girls win derby

The Players of the Match were Charlotte and Alisha.

Auckland Moors U14 Girls entered March having lost only two games from the last nine and looking to continue their current form in the Russell Foster League.

Despite the bad weather threatening to postpone it, the anticipated match against local rivals Bishop Auckland Girls was maintained.

The first half remained without goals as both sides tried to gain an early lead.

Goals then came immediately from the start of the second half as Charlotte gave Auckland Moors the lead.

Bishop Auckland replied to bring it back to 1-1, before further goals from Erin H, Amalia and Erin D for Auckland Moors.

A last minute goal by Bishop Auckland eventually made it 4-2 with the three points going to Auckland Moors.

Auckland Moors then hosted Foundation of Light Girls at High Whitworth Fields, taking the lead in the first 10 minutes, as Emily hit the back of the net. Alisha, Erin D and Erin H took it 4-0 at the break.

This was then followed by further goals from Charlotte and Hermani before the final whistle.

The result now leaves the team in third place in the league, with their next game against nearby rivals Newton Aycliffe.
