Local, family-friendly, acrobatic gymnastics club, Astrid Academy of Movement, based in Kirk Merrington Primary School, is celebrating after being awarded the title of Acrobatic Club of the Year at North East Gymnastics Association awards night last month.
Staff from the club attended the awards ceremony at Hardwick Hall and were delighted to win the prestigious accolade.
“This is an amazing achievement for our local club,” said Head Coach, Hannah Reader, “and just shows how incredible the gymnasts are, as their hard work has well and truly paid off. I am so proud of them all.
“Last year, our members did incredibly,” added Hannah.
“Our floor gymnasts brought back plenty of medals of all colours at each event they participated in.
“Our Performance Team won a trophy at every event they participated in, and were especially proud of winning ‘Best Choreography and 2nd Place Senior Team’.
“I think Astrid has been recognised due to the incredible advancement our members have made and to see them enjoying what they do, just means the world.”
