Readers may remember the charity appeal at the Frog and Ferret in Spennymoor last summer in aid of Angelman UK, a charity that supports people with Angelman Syndrome.
After several delays in getting someone from the charity to collect the money raised, they finally managed to hand over the money last weekend.
Organisers were proud to be able to hand over the grand sum of £8,200 to the charity’s representative, which is a remarkable amount considering their initial target was around £600.
The proprieters and the charity committee would like to thank all local businesses that donated prizes for raffles etc, and also their customers and the general public for their huge support towards raising this fantastic amount, as well as the bands that donated their time for free at “Frogfest”, the music event.
They hope that that support will continue as they launch this year’s charity fundraising program, which is for Quinn’s Retreat, a charity based in Shildon which supports people and families affected by suicide.

There will be no family fun day this year, but “Frogfest 2” will take place on 19 July, and there will be the usual fundraising activities, such as football cards, raffles and tombolas.
