With VE Day being celebrated on Thursday 8 May it will be the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe.
Ferryhill Methodist Church is hoping to organise a display of images from the original celebrations to mark the occasion.
A spokesperson asked: “Do you have any family photographs of VE Day celebrations in Ferryhill, on that day in 1945?
“Or do any family members, past or present, remember how they celebrated?
“Perhaps there was a parade, street party, a gathering in the Market Place, etc.
“We are hoping to gather the information to display it in Ferryhill Methodist Church on May 8th when the church will be open.
“Details of opening times for the display will follow later.
“If you do have any, then can you bring them to any of the Friday Coffee Mornings at the Methodist Church, which take place between 9am and 11am each week.
