Chilton is set to see the return of competitive adult football in the town with the launch of a new team, Chilton Club FC.
Founded by coaches, Martin Overend and Andy Dunn, the club is affiliated with Chilton Juniors, ensuring a pathway to senior football is available within the town.
The club has also secured the Charlie Wayman Playing Fields as its regular home venue, shared with Chilton Juniors.
Having launched a Facebook page at the beginning of the year to announce their intentions, the club has already received positive backing from the community, including a number of sponsorships from local businesses.
Siberian Stoves Ltd will be sponsoring the home kit as well as investing in a pitch-side banner.
GO Cladding are sponsoring match and training balls while I&M Willetts have also taken a pitch-side banner.
There are plenty more sponsorship opportunities, including kit, pitch-side banners, players and social media promotion, and the club is inviting anyone interested to get in touch.
The club is also inviting prospective players to get in touch ahead of the 2025/26 season when they will begin competing in the Swinburne Maddison Durham Sunday Football League.
“We’re not just building a team,” said Martin, “we’re building a community in affiliation with Chilton Juniors FC, with the aim of competing and progressing through the league divisions.
“We don’t care if you’re Messi in disguise or if you haven’t kicked a ball in years, but we do care about passion, commitment and a team mentality.”
The club is promising all players will receive some game time by building a squad where everyone gets an opportunity.
Equally important is that everyone will be able to get involved in shaping the club’s future.
