A Christmas message from the Mayor of Chilton

It has been my pleasure and greatest honour to have been the Mayor of Chilton since May.

I’ve enjoyed speaking to residents across our community. Chilton is inspiring and every day I’m reminded and thankful to have lived here my entire life.

I’ve met so many dedicated, resilient, and caring residents who support our youth, our elderly and our vulnerable. People who fight every day to make this the best place to be. For this I would like to thank you.

Christmas is a time of celebration and looking towards what the new year may bring, but for many it is a difficult time of year.

Please take time to think of those in Chilton, Durham, the UK and beyond who face this time of year less fortunate, alone or in grief.

Please reach out to those you know who are facing challenges. If you are struggling, please let people know and remember you are a valued part of our community.

At this time of year many will be working to keep us safe, unable to be with family and friends.

May I send a big thank you and best wishes to all our emergency services, our social care workers, our armed forces. I also say thank you to those working in the retail, catering sector and to those working in shops, those working to keep us warm, we appreciate all that you do for us not only at this festive season but throughout the year.

May I thank those who have supported Chilton Town Council this year, including the Youth Council and the wonderful children and staff at Chilton Academy and Elemore Hall School who make the whole community so proud.

As Mayor, I wish you and your family peace and prosperity. I hope that you experience all the joy you deserve.

And I would like to thank you and send best wishes on behalf of Chilton Town Council members and officers and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and prosperous 2025.
