In 2027 we will be celebrating our 70th Anniversary, writes a spokesperson for Coundon and Leeholme Community Centre.
The hall grew up around the mining community and was paid for and erected by local miners and their families.
We are planning an open day to celebrate not only the rich history of mining heritage but also the sense of community the hall has given over the past 70 years.
We are appealing for old photographs and mining memorabilia, which we could borrow for displays. We would also like to hear from you if you have any stories or memories that we could write down and share with others on open day.
Committee members are always available at the hall on Tuesday mornings between 9-11am and we would be grateful for any input from you. You can also share your stories and memories and contact us by e-mailing one of our committee members at the following e-mail addresses –
