After the COVID pandemic stopped their ability to host sessions, the 2nd Bishop Auckland Scouts are celebrating their regrouping success.
Founded in 1947, the Scout group has been known to several generations as the heart of fun and adventure within the local area.
There are many who have witnessed their achievements over the years, whether that be appearing live on BBC Breakfast Time to make tea for Selina Scott in 1983, to cooking sausages for PM Tony Blair on a Scouting adventure day.
Despite such achievements, the groups most important and continuing success is its commitment to helping young people, aged 6-18, grow in confidence, make new friends, and develop skills for life.
Matthew Frost, leader within the Cub Scout section, stated on behalf of the group: “We are so proud of all our members, especially with everything they have been through over the last few years. It is an amazing achievement to see so many young people still ready to join in with the adventure of scouting at 2nd Bishop. We only hope that more young people discover our group and join in with the amazing activities we have to offer, whether this be rock climbing, camping, hiking, sailing, cooking, gardening, playing games and so much more!”
