Shildon was full of colour, laughter and community spirit on Saturday 1 August at Hackworth Park as residents gathered for this year’s Fun4All Partnership event.

Shildon AFC made up for the disappointment of defeat at North Shields by knocking the current Division One league leaders, Blyth Town, out of the FA Cup with a clinical display at Dean Street.

The back wall of Jubilee Fields Community Centre has been transformed into a vibrant, colourful mural thanks to the work of local street artist Craig Comerford, also known as ‘I Am Risk’.

Shildon Railway re-wrote the record books when Jen Knowles became the first woman to play for the 1sts while Darren Waites took 5 wickets in 5 balls for the 2nds.

Shildon AFC got their season on track with a weekend derby win over local and promotion rivals Bishop Auckland.

Shildon Railway CC 1st XI got back on track with a commanding 62-run victory away to Northallerton, producing a complete team performance with both bat and ball.

Congratulations to Enid Miller and Barbara Hall who were the winners of Shildon Town Bowling Club’s July Saturday competition.

Preparations are well advanced for celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the building of Shildon Methodist Church.

Martin Orton, formerly Keegan, from Shildon took to his bike at Land’s End on 13 July at 10.30am to set off on the journey to John O’Groats.
