Following a successful season, Ferryhill Athletic Football Club have secured their promotion to the Wearside Premier League.
The club, which was initially founded in 1921, were very successful over the years and had much history in Ferryhill until they folded in 2006.
The team returned to Ferryhill in January 2022 playing at Dean Bank Park. The team has continued to work hard to garner the recognition and promise they originally had.
At the end of the season, Ferryhill Athletic Football Club were named the champions of Wearside League Division 1, finishing top of their table and winning the league before other teams in their league had finished their games.
Due to the team’s sheer hard work, motivation and determination they received the news that they had been promoted to the Wearside Football League Premier Division on 22 April.
This is extremely positive news for the club and for Ferryhill and gives the town and those who live in the town hope that Ferryhill does have a lot to be proud of.
On behalf of everyone at Ferryhill Town Council, we wish the club every success as they continue their new journey in a new league. This is an exciting time for the club and one that could help put Ferryhill back on the map.
