Dear Editor,

I visited the Miners Museum for my first time last week – I was overwhelmed by the welcome from Kevin and Micheal (both ex-miners) and the wealth of information. I never knew Potash was orange or managers carried a Shot key to start the explosives! I have lived in Spennymoor for 8 years and feel ashamed this was my first visit.

I nearly missed it, as I thought the inside door leading to the museum was an office! But I was attracted by the outside sign at main entrance. The wealth of information, artefacts, the small replica mine for children to crawl into and the pit pony. What a Gem to Spennymoor.

Yours sincerely,
Lesley Parratt, Spennymoor
