Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group 10th anniversary celebration

This year sees the 10th anniversary of the founding of Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group.

From six members in a small church hall, the charity has now supported a three-figure number of patients since coming into being.

“We have had many success stories with patients living after cancer,” said secretary, Marianne Short, “but we also remember those who have sadly lost their battle against cancer.”

To celebrate the landmark, the charity is currently arranging a function at the Phoenix Club in Macmillan Road, Newton Aycliffe on Friday 8th March from 7pm-11pm.

The entertainment will include the fantastic singer Marie St Clair who performs hits from Tina Turner, Shirley Bassey, Donna Summer and others, while the disco will be hosted by Miss Annbag.

Tickets cost just £5 and will be available in the GACSG shop and hub, opposite Savers in Aycliffe town centre, open Tuesday and Thursday from 9.30am-3pm and Friday from 10am-2pm. Tickets will also be available from the Phoenix Club.
