Community Gospel Choir Workshop – Shildon

February 17, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Singing can lift the spirits, particularly in the dark dreary months of the year, and St John’s Church are excited to be hosting in the church a scratch community gospel singing workshop on Saturday 17 February from 10am to 4pm. The day will be led by Megan Rawling, an experienced gospel choir leader who until recently led her own gospel choir in Norwich. She now works in Darlington as a Community Music Director. Revd. Carol from St John’s Church said: “I am really pleased that Megan is able to come and lead a day for the community here in Shildon. “I have experienced similar days in other areas of the North East and wanted to bring gospel choir singing to Shildon for anyone who would like to join in. “I have seen how much fun these days can be and how they can bring so many people together.” The day is for anyone who fancies giving singing a go – you don’t need to be an experienced singer to take part. Megan will teach various songs to the group through the day and at the end there will be a chance to perform to family and friends. The day starts at 10am and will finish at around 4pm with the family performance being held at 3.30pm. It will include breaks for lunch and coffee and everyone is asked to provide their own lunch. The day is also free, but the church are asking for small donations to cover the cost of hosting the event. You can just turn up on the day but if you would like to reserve a place or ask any questions you can email Carol at shildonparish[@]gmail[.]com.
