Stagepoint seeks to expand after sell out

Stagepoint Studio, a Shildon-based drama school, is celebrating another fully booked term, with all classes now at capacity and waiting lists continuing to grow.

Based at the historic Shildon Railway Institute, the studio has quickly built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality drama training for young people. As demand continues to rise, Stagepoint Studio is now exploring the addition of a new location to give more families the opportunity to experience what makes Stagepoint Studio so special.

Founded by professionally trained actor and director Jarone Macklin-Page, Stagepoint Studio offers structured, drama school-inspired training designed to build confidence, communication, and performance skills in young people.

“I feel really blessed to be in this position because we’re here because of the wonderful support we’ve received from the community, from the families we work with, as well as the businesses and organisations that have helped us establish ourselves,” said Jarone.

“It’s amazing to see that there’s such an appetite for young people to access high-quality drama training. It’s something that changed my life, and it’s wonderful to be able to give that same opportunity to others.”

As demand continues to grow, Stagepoint Studio has also strengthened its teaching team with the addition of Danielle Cooper, a highly experienced practitioner who played a key role in establishing Five Star Theatre in Rugby.

Danielle joins as a Master’s-educated physical theatre practitioner, bringing with her extensive experience as a drama teacher within private school settings.

Her arrival reflects Stagepoint Studio’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-level training while keeping it accessible to all.

Sessions at Stagepoint combine core acting techniques, ensemble work, and creative devising, with each term building towards a final performance.

The result is not just stronger performers, but more confident, expressive, and resilient young people.

Parents have reported noticeable improvements in confidence and communication within just a few weeks, while students themselves often describe Stagepoint as “like a second family”, a reflection of the supportive and inclusive environment at the heart of the studio.

As Stagepoint Studio looks towards its next stage of growth, its focus remains firmly on the community.

“We want to continue listening to the community and working with the community, so that the way we grow is in the way that’s needed most,” said Jarone.

“We know there are more families and more young people who would benefit from what we offer, and we want to make sure we grow in the places where people genuinely want us to be.”

Stagepoint Studio is now inviting parents, schools, and local organisations to get in touch and help shape where it goes next.
