Regional success for gymnastics duo

Team mates cheering the duo on and wishing them luck for finals.

Darcey-Rose Miller & Jessie Jacobs, a Grade 2 Disability Women’s Pair at Astrid Academy of Movement, came 2nd place at NDP Regionals and qualified for National Finals on 17 May.

NDP Acro & Disability National Finals were held at Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke-On-Trent on 16 & 17 May where the gymnasts travelled down the country to compete.

The girls were very excited for this event as this is the first Acro partnership they’ve been in and the very first partnership from Astrid to qualify for finals. How incredible for them to have competed for the very first time and got through to the BIG one; finals!

The girls coach Shakira said “It was a gorgeous weekend celebrating our fabulous gymnasts achievement! It was a great experience for the girls and they came away with a Bronze medal!”.

Coach Hannah has said “She is super proud of the girls for achieving so much in a short space of time. Having fun along the way and enjoying what they do is what matters. They’ve added some of the best memories to their gymnastics career and receiving a Bronze at Finals is the cherry on the cake for them. We’d also like to congratulate their coach Shakira for the hard work she has put in to get the girls to where they were. Teamwork makes the dream work.”

All coaches and staff at Astrid, cannot wait to see what the future holds for them as this is just the beginning.
