Award-winning local film director, Dean Midas has started work on his new short horror film, The Devil’s Stone.
The Devil’s Stone is very real and its three large lumps of igneous rock are positioned near the council offices in the centre of Crook, Durham. It is called the Devil’s Stone because legend says that if you run seven times around it, the Devil himself will appear.
Dean will also be filming at The Witham in Barnard Castle. For more than 150 years, the community venue for theatre, music, art and social events has been at the heart of Barnard Castle and Teesdale’s cultural life.
Dean said: “I can’t wait to start filming, as the legend has intrigued me for years. “I am also honoured to be filming at The Witham. The building has loads of history and it is set in the centre of the stunning Barnard Castle.”
Mr Midas is the North East Film-maker of the Year and BBC Upload’s Film Master for 2023. His previous short films have been watched around the world and picked up many awards.
The Devil’s Stone will be released on Friday 13th October.
