The latest talk hosted by Middridge History Society will be given by guest speaker, Dr Richard Pears, entitled David Stephenson (1757-1819) Architect and Town Planner.
Stephenson designed All Saints Church in Newcastle, a superb Georgian building, as well as designing Mosely and Dean Streets in the city.
He was also architect to the Duke of Northumberland and worked on Alnwick and Prudhoe Castles and North Shields.
He was one of the founders of the Newcastle Literary and Philosophical Society and built a country house for himself at Waldridge Hall near Chester-le-Street.
Everyone is welcome to attend the talk at Middridge Village Hall on Thursday 14th December from 7.30pm.
Admission is £3, which includes refreshments.
The remaining talks for this season will be taking place in the new year.
On Thursday 11th January, Neil Hammond will give a talk entitled The Stockton and Darlington Railway’: The railway that got the world on track 1825-2025
On Thursday 8th February, Dr Jonathan Bush’s talk will be ‘Ten Facts you probably didn’t know about Durham University’s History.
And on Thursday 14th March, Chris Lloyd will talk on Secret Darlington.
All talks are from 7.30pm at Middridge Village Hall.
