The Shildon Youth Council and Shildon Town Council, together with Peter Garrod, Sport and Physical Activity Development Officer at Durham County Council, came together to organise a Taster Sport Event, which was held at the Sunnydale Leisure Centre on Wednesday 30th October.

Young people were able to try out all of the different sports on offer at the All Sports event, such as rollerskating, gymnastics, fencing, zumba, rugby, boxing, football and much more.

The project was the idea of the Shildon Youth Council, who received funding from the O2 Think Big project, as well as Durham County Council, Councillor Henry Nicholson and Councillor Trish Pemberton.

Morrison’s also kindly donated water and fruit for the event, which was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
