Shildon AFC’s chances of reclaiming top spot in Northern League Division One were once again scuppered by the weather as their latest scheduled fixture against Northallerton Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
With league leaders Bishop Auckland’s FA Vase tie also postponed, Shildon could have taken top spot with a win.
Instead, it was Bishops who were able to extend their lead to four points after their midweek fixture against Seaham Red Star went ahead, with the leaders running out 3-0 winners.
Shildon will now host West Auckland Town this weekend while Bishops host Blyth Town in the Vase, the fixture having been reversed in an effort to fulfil the tie.
