On Monday 25th July, a series of summer events will begin at Shildon Library which will last throughout July and August, courtesy of the Durham County Council Library Service, the Arts Council England, the Reading Agency and local county councillors.
These events are all dedicated to providing activities for children to celebrate 100 years of one of the world’s favourite storytellers – Roald Dahl.
The events are designed to encourage youngsters to maintain their reading skills during the long summer holidays and include a visit from Mr Fox for a craft workshop on Thursday 28th July at 2pm, another workshop hosted by Roly Poly Bird the following Thursday at the same time, a Teddy Bears Picnic for children under 7 on Monday 8th August at 2.30pm, a ‘Tortoises’ craft workshop on 11th August at 2pm and a Cartoon workshop with Liz Million (sponsored by local councillors) on 16th August at 10.30am.
Activities cost £1 per child.
A spokesperson said: “Come along, be creative and have a whale of a time celebrating all that is wonderful about the world of words and imagination.
“But remember – places are limited so advance booking is advisable and children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.”
