U13s bounce back

Bishop Auckland RUFC Under 13s played away at Consett on Sunday 15th February, and were run away winners with three players scoring hat-tricks.

After a very early try from Ben the forwards really started to dominate.

Hard work by Josh enabled him to push over the try line three times in the match, getting his first career hat-trick.

Luke was able to use this secure platform to set up several attacking runs for the half backs and wingers.

With the ball spinning down the back line, Euan, working in combination with Ben and Jack at full back, were able to set up several tries.

The highlight of the first half was Rhys’ try. After being passed the ball in the centre of the field, Rhys drove forward towards the goal line. Using his strength, he ploughed a furrow, with Consett players in his wake. With support from other forwards, Rhys was driven over the line, and despite Consett’s bests efforts, Rhys was able to ground the ball for his first ever competitive try. With James and Ben running in a try each before the break, Bishop had a commanding 32 nil lead.

With Bishop on the attack in the second half, Will Barker picked up the loose ball and used his strong hand-offs to force his way to the line and score. Not to be outdone, Fergus repeated the move some 5 minutes later and was rewarded with a try.

With Bishop relaxing, Consett were able to put together two drives that allowed one of their strongest players to sprint through Bishop’s defensive line and score two tries.
Edward also scored his first try for the club.

Towards the end of the game, Luke was able to score, as were Josh, James and Ben who all recorded three tries each.

Final score Consett 14 – Bishop 71.
