Sophie has suffered with kidney failure, weekly chemotherapy, lumbar punctures and regular bone marrow testing. Throughout all her treatment, she has always had a smile on her face and a positive outlook. A fundraising night was organised by Andrea Shields on Saturday 5th October at Elm Road W.M.C.
The event included a drag artist and a band, and raised a remarkable £865.
Four days later, on Wednesday 9th October, Andrew Malcolm went around the ground at Shildon AFC’s home game against Consett and collected £175.
Sophie’s mam, Paula, commented, “A big thank you goes to Andrea and Andrew for all their efforts on our behalf.
“The money will help with the travel costs to go back and forth from the hospital, and also help with days out for Sophie and all the many other expenses involved.”
The family were nominated by CLIC Sargent for a respite holiday, provided by the Lennax Children’s Cancer Fund. They recently had a 7 day break in a holiday park in the New Forest, which Sophie enjoyed very much.
