Following the May elections, Bishop Auckland Town Council has two vacancies available for co-option: one in the Henknowle Ward and one in the Woodhouse Ward.
The council is calling on people from all backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about their local area to put themselves forward.
They are urging enthusiastic and engaged members of the community who want to make long-lasting change, have innovative ideas and are passionate about their community to apply and make a real difference in Bishop Auckland.
An integral part of the role is engaging with local people, groups, and businesses to determine their needs, making decisions on the services and projects the council should take forward, and ensuring services meet the community’s needs.
Any candidate who wishes to apply for the vacancies will be asked to confirm that they are eligible for co-option.
Those who are interested in being co-opted are asked to apply in writing with a brief personal statement outlining their qualifications, experience, and reasons for wishing to join the Town Council, and to provide details of any relevant background or experience that demonstrates suitability for the role.

The closing date is 5pm on 13 June with eligible candidates invited to address the Town Council on 24 June where co-options will be made.

I’m looking forward to finding out who new Henknowle councillor is. I’m too old and physically unable to do a lot. However I would love to chat about things that I consider to be important to our estate particularly buses, we have none! We want some and need them urgently!!!
