Three roosters on their bikes

Eric Stapleton, Michael Fitzgerald and Michael Brown rode the London-Essex 100 for a pair of worthy charities.

On Sunday 26 May, the affectionately named 3 Roosters of Michael Fitzgerald, Eric Stapleton and Michael Brown took part in the London – Essex 100 Cycling Ride.

Starting at Victoria Embankment in London, the ride took the trio through city and out into the villages and towns of Essex before returning to the capital and completing the ride at the finish line on Tower Bridge.

The roosters rode the 103 miles in 7 hours 46 minutes.

On the day there was around 20,000 cyclists participating in the event. The weather was changing all the time from very strong winds, to heavy rain showers and lovely sunshine, which was all hard work for the riders.

“The ride was another great experience, painful at times but an enjoyable day,” said Michael Fitzgerald. “The crowds along the route where a great support.

“We have raised a grand total of £1,265 for the British Heart Foundation and £898 for local charity, Missed A Beat. Thank you very much for the people who made a donation and kind words of support.”
