More than 100 jubilant County Durham school-leavers turned out for an elegant garden party prom to celebrate the end of their exams.
Pupils from Spennymoor’s Whitworth Park Academy enjoyed an evening of food, dancing, garden games, and sunshine at the Hammer and Pincers, near Newton Aycliffe, as they marked the end of their GCSEs alongside friends and teachers.
Head teacher Stuart Dixon said the pupils “couldn’t deserve it more”, praising their effort, attendance, and ambition throughout their time at the Advance Learning Partnership school, adding: “They are simply the hardest-working children in County Durham!
“We couldn’t have asked any more of them throughout Year 11, and they deserve every moment of celebration and success – both tonight and when their results land in August.
“We couldn’t be prouder of them. They’re a credit to themselves, their families, and our school.”
