Victory Bells, taking place at West Auckland Memorial Hall on Friday 15 May at 7pm, will commemorate and narrate the story of WWII through music and memories from the era.
The evening will feature much-loved wartime songs made famous by Vera Lynn, Grace Fields, The Andrews Sisters and other iconic performers, creating what organisers hope will be a moving and uplifting community event.
Guests are also encouraged to embrace the spirit of the 1940s by attending in wartime dress, although organisers stress this is entirely optional.
Tickets cost £5, with all proceeds going to SSAFA Durham to support serving personnel, veterans and military families in the local area.
Mike Donne, Durham Branch Chair and Community Engagement Lead said: “Victory Bells promises to be a wonderful evening of music, remembrance and community spirit. We’d love people to come along, enjoy the atmosphere and support SSAFA’s work helping the Armed Forces community.”
