This year’s Spennymoor poppy badge, commissioned by local Company, TA Plastics, to raise money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy appeal, is going on general sale from Monday 22 September.
Managing Director of TA Plastics, John Humphreys said: “As part of our company’s charity fund raising efforts, we invited British Army Veteran, Pete Molloy, to design the 2025 poppy badge.
“Again we are delighted with this year’s badge. Thank you Pete”
Speaking of the design for the badges, Mr Molloy said: “The centrepiece of the badge is based on the exhortation from the Act of Remembrance, which is mounted on a wall by the town’s war memorial.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Either side of the exhortation, I have placed two World War One soldiers in the reverse arms position.”
The badges are £3 each with all profits going to the RBL’s Poppy Appeal.
They can be purchased from The Sweet Shop, Black Horse Tudhoe, K. Devere Barbers, Hockings Butchers, Brewers Arms, TA Plastics, Spennymoor Town Football Club, Advanced Windows and Bloom “N” Witches.
