The Spennymoor Gala Committee is thrilled to announce the details of the 69th annual Town Gala, writes volunteer Event Manager, Steve Liddle, promising a vibrant and unforgettable celebration for all.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, 6th July, when the main event kicks off at 12.30pm, with a carnival style Parade, passing through the Marketplace and Town Hall, finishing at Victoria Jubilee Park. Following the parade, Jubilee Park will come alive with family entertainment, including performances on the Croxdale Group Music Stage. This year, the stage will feature local bands and the sensational Hunni (Jen & Liv), winners of ITV’s The Voice 2023.
This year’s theme, Carnival of Colour, is celebrating the Caribbean spirit of joy, creativity, and diversity. Expect a dazzling display of Carnival-style performers, the rhythmic sounds of steel drums, and a host of street entertainers and performers. Local groups and community organisations will add to the carnival atmosphere, and an array of classic and vintage vehicles will add a touch of nostalgia to the parade.
Culines Traditional Fun Fair will operate from Thursday 4 July to Sunday 7 July, offering thrills and delights for all ages.
Local shop and business owners are encouraged to get into the gala spirit by participating in the Gala Window Dressing Competition.
Judged by the Town Mayor in the week leading up to Gala Day, the competition offers a chance for businesses to showcase their creativity and community pride. The winning entrant will have the honour of displaying the Spennymoor Gala Culine Family Award trophy in their window.

The Gala Committee, a dedicated group of local volunteers, is kindly supported by Spennymoor Town Council. No tickets are required for Jubilee Park, but we kindly ask for a minimum cash donation upon entry of £1 per person, to enable the event to continue.
We look forward to the Town coming together for a day of celebration, community spirit, and colourful festivities that promise to create cherished memories for years to come.
